The school was founded in 1995 and is a state-run school. There are about 70 teachers and 450 students. It covers a range of students aged 10 up to 16 years old. There are twenty -four classes with about 24 students each. There are 5 forms (5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th) and 3 professional courses:
There are also two classes (6th D and 7th E) for students with Alternative Curricula (special curricula for students that are at risk of drop out).
In our classes we integrate students with special needs.
In the 5th and 6th forms (10 to 12 years old) students learn English as a 1st foreign language. In the 7th, 8th and 9th forms (13 to 16 years old) students study a second foreign language: French or Spanish. Students study: Portuguese, Math, Foreign languages, Biology/Science, History/Geography, Chemistry, Art, Music, P.E, Project work, and Guided Study. Students spend a hour during the week with their former/tutor teacher.
In our school there is also an additional/extra educational offer: there is a Drama group, Arts & Crafts Club, Science Club, Health and environment Club and Sport (football, athletics, table-tennis and basketball).
At the end of the day students can attend “study rooms” where they can complete their homework or study with the support of teachers.
The school is equipped with 3 computer rooms, a gym and two labs for Chemistry, Science and Biology.
Students can have lunch in the school canteen and get snacks in the school cafeteria during school breaks.
